Birding at -3°C, windy and snow flurries

 On our way over to Line 14 and the rail trail, Donald spotted the following:

 We estimated 25 to 30 or so - unusual so a large group in April?

Then we saw  a pair of Trumpeters. They were on the warmish road when we drove over and were feeding when we returned:

 Tanya, we actually  saw them last year in the pond , west of rail, south of Line 14.

I can give you at least 1 date, if not more from 2024. And Vicki and I have seen the pair elsewhere.

Then after meeting up with Barb, we saw 2 pair of Mallards  with one rep per trail side:

 OK, one photo was of some ice.

Then there was the heron as Barb mentioned

 And an owl camouflaged as as a broken tree brought down by the recent ice storm:

 But we were not fooled!

(For very long)

Then on our way back along Woodlawn, Donald spotted the wild Ts roosting;

When I arrived home Vicki very excitedly told me about the 2 crows mobbing an eagle on the ice just off our place on Lake Couch.

Sounds like a fish story but she says she has photos - "Show and Tell" tomorrow?

Great outing,

Little Red Riding Hood

 She was deep in the "Forest" when she noticed trees growing from the sky:

And strange  apparitions:

Some thing was wrong;

 And the cars were at sixes and sevens:

 And what was this?

 Wires down!

Is there another way to Gramma's house?

 Security patrol and a wall of snow.

 Security patrol and a moat.

And then ...

 Well, Okay, not exactly wolves but Wile E. Coyote!

Will or can little Red get to Granny's house?

Stay tuned,

WOB

Saturday morning rain

 This could also be entitled "Why I like living here".

 The same photo but with some visual "aids"!

It is a fish or river otter on ice:

 And the harder I work, the luckier I am ...
