My friend, David Cooper?

I was standing near Leacock when a shadow crossed the snow and a bird landed on a limb in front of me - maybe 30m away.

I talked to it because I didn't think it was aware of me:

I think it must be a Cooper's Hawk although the head appears a little lighter than usual?

Having introduced ourselves it decided to continue on its way:

A wonderful moment for me - WOB

  1. What a beautiful visitor on a beautiful day. With its head in full sun, likely to look lighter than usual? Great photographs!

  2. I double checked and I too agree it is a Coopers. https://www.audubon.org/news/a-beginners-guide-iding-coopers-and-sharp-shinned-hawks
The tail is rounded and the head does not look small. Nice pictures!
