Give the Lady a nod

A wink is as good as a nod to a blind man. However, I was not alone.

So something for Vicki: Nodding Ladies' Tresses:

Scout Valley on Sunday - day of the Darner

There was a recent comment via skype that my darner images were not sharp
Sorry about that.
Today I took Vicki as live bait to ensnare a darner so I could take some photos that might be in focus, at least in part. The darner co-operated  with a bribe of butterfly.

First I am not sure which darner this is,

But I did get close to it!

A little closer?

Thank you Vicki for posing so patiently.

Scout Valley excursion

Honest, I wanted to continue with Big Chute  but I  got  "dragged" off.

White-faced  Meadowhawk - I have several images.

Someone asked what I was doing - dragonflies
"You have one on your hat" Yes indeed. However it flew off when I brought my hat before my eyes.
"Its on your shoulder"
So I ccarefully placed my hat (Tilly) over the Green Darner and then brought the hat around. The darner flew off before I could photrograph it.

Then there was this patrol:

Big Chute - from the top

It was a week ago, Saturday. And everyone was asking for Waldo

It looked like this in the beginning:

And then slowly the plug was pulled:

And believe me, the only way I could see what was going on around me was to take a  --- selfie!

And then it was up up and away -

What happened next? Stay tuned.

McGee Creek Part III

Sometimes one feels that there are eyes looking at ones self. A feeling that won't go away -but who is looking and where ?

I don't recall seeing a chipmunk or a squirrel here - maybe I am forgetful?

McGee Creek part II - Black (Northern) Water Snake

I like snakes. I have had several in my care when I was a youth. I took pride in my care when snakes shed their skin. They did not try to bite me. And I trried to learn from them about a different way of locomotion.

This afternoon I  observed this snake for nearly 2 hours sunning itself. Air temp was 16.5C in the shade while the Creek was just a thin hair over 20C. Quite windy but the snake seemed undisturbed even if it looked at me interestingly.

A fat snake with evidence of several large skins being shed over the pastcouple of months. And the colouring is interesting too, maybe a little exagerated here.

More from today on another day - W O B
