Scout Valley

I walked the "Homestead Trail"
Just 2km, maybe half untrodden. I usually run this route, or walk parts to view the dragonflies on the "Alvar-like" plain a few 100m from the start. The forest is mostly deciduous - so open - and airy, ideal for a winter's walk.

I met 5 people, 2 dogs, and one woodpecker.

No such thing as a dull day! (Maybe a dull person?)

  1. Looks like your woodpecker felt chilly, it's quite puffed up.

  2. Thanks, Kim. Actually, it is a Hairy eating away. If that is a red spot on its head then it might be a male. It was actually quite mild, above freezing, and calm. Still, the snow cover has been quite extensive, alternating with freezing rain for the past 6 weeks or so.
