There on the marge of Sedge Wren Marsh

It was a lovely evening, the golden hour, just before we started bat monitoring.

I started walking north along the road when I saw this 4cm-ish long beetle:

Does it only have 4 legs?

Then I saw and watched this "sparrow" for awhile - any idea what species?

 And then this fellow -

 - again, any ideas?

The next fellow "posed" for quite awhile, a Northern Flicker -

Then back down on the road - I think 2 different birds, maybe even different species:

The last sequence shows a wren-like character of the turned up tail.

Then another  beetle - this one looks like it might be able to swim?

Then out into the night to bat or not not to bat:

No fireflies, but whip-poor-wills and 2 beaver. And a bear!

wobbily for sure,

WOB
