Everything is "Ducky" with the wise old bird

Spring cleaning reached the kayak yesterday, thanks to Elisabeth and Jeromy. So I went out, too, and returned with memories from land and water.

At Leacock on May 15

And again yesterday

And then across at Tudhope - Canada geese last week

And yesterday

I found the lighting unreal - like I was seeing a painting.

There was also a Mallard family. The drake was herding the whole family, Mom, too. This was in contrast with the Leacock family which also had a drake well out of the "picture".

He finally got them all together

Anf peace returned to Mariposa.

Dear Wawa - at foot-bashed-in, a year later

I was returning to the scene of a year ago when I saw a pair of Canada geese and a large number of goslings -

Later I saw a third adult was also swimming near by:

In response to my "Wawa" I have changed the captuon/header from knee to foot.

Grass-cutters

There were 7 of us on Sat, 3 of us on Sunday, I alone on Mon - all with photos of
Venus and Mercury, Moon on Sun & Mon, and 3 of us on Tue without a photo. And 100+ photos later, I still have writer's cramp!

So in the interests of freedom, Here are some images from the Wye River at #12, taken from the former railway bridge now serving as a bike/hike trail.

Some high contrast impressions, almost black and white:

The Wye was mostly ice-covered still, and greenish, so there was some colour.

It can be difficult to see the thin line between ice and water - the geese were breaking through.

The eyes on the Wyes have it:

Kajak Part II. Ducklings and Goslings

Vicki and I met these ducklings on Tue when we were out canoeing. They seemed to be following me around yesterday. Shots with them heading right were taken on my way out; with them heading left on my way back.

There were enough of them. But I think there were more goslings. Now where they were hiding on my way out I do not know - perhaps they were over at Tudhope. (These photos were all taken within 500m of Panic Point on Thursday.)

Below you can see P-Point:

A few minutes earlier I heard the honking from 51 Canada geese flying north. The "V" was jagged.

I have noticed this in other years but have no explanation - wob
