Lake Couchiching, lake of the laughing or smiling waters, lake below a lake - translate the name or the idea as you wish. Fortune smiles here any way you want to look. The following were mostly taken from on the balcony but I start with the view that caught my attention:

I cannot believe that it took so long to post - but then I have not finished with Knossos or Alberta.

I had the idea I could pursuade you to accept this as an Orillia aurora:

What do you think? Is it dark enough?

It really was close to us - near enogh to touch. I moved two, yes 2 steps to my right for the next shot:

It left me with a glowing feeling:

Golden Telephone

You have heard the story about the golden telephone?

You haven't!

Several snowbirds - Canadian pensioners who migrate to Florida, Texas, Mexico to avoid the facts of life otherwise known as winter - have reported seeing golden telephones in some of the southern USA/Mexico churches with a sign stating variously something like: " Talk to God directly, $100. US ".

Some of these people subsequently found that churches in Orillia offered similar services but for only 25 cents (Canadian). On inquiring it was revealed that was because here the call was "local" vs in USA it would have been "Long distance".

Now that is interesting, don't you think?

So you can imagine my delight when I looked out the window just a few minutes ago and saw this rainbow.

Pretty impressive until you recall an origin for the name of the town, Orillia, from the Spanish for golden shore,
