Several dozen (36 counted for sure, maybe as  many as 48 - unlikely to have been 60) campers joined Vicki and me "on the beach" to observe the prelude to the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse

This is what SOHO, the solar space observatory

saw this morning.
And this afternoon I photographed this - in  front of witnesses!

That I think is "pretty cool" even if I have to say so myself - blog!

New Years Eve Wed Dec 31 2014

It snowed late yesterday afternoon and evening but it was worth it this morning:

This was the view from our bedroom/balcony - I did go outside but it was and still is cold: -9C with winds up to 50kmh  --

Nevertheless, my running friends will be out at this time doing their New Years Eve "thing" as we have done together in the past 40 years:
