Thanksgiving/Erntedankfest - Part I Red, white and green

It is Autumn and the cours are changing - a happy if not nostalgic time of year with reflections coming in Part II. For now I want to establish the nature of the Canadian flag, the maple leaf.

First the provincial flag of Ontario:

Do you see the green and red? Here it is in 1 leaf!

And now 6 months away, green and white:

I have only seen these mutations in 1 area. Think I'll stop now and return with some reflections.

Red buildings in snow

I went for a walk on Saturday, in the snow, toward Orillia from Burnside Line. It was a gray day with a wind swirling snow in my face and camera.

Not always easy to "see" colour on such a day - in fact I often incrfease the contrast a little and print to gray scale. The following is about as naturally reproduced as I could manage:
