A Room with a View, too!

So I was here looking out at the snow -

when I was asked how would I empty the tub - there is a cup, and also a bucket.

I guess I would use the bucket.

Sane people would pull the  plug .   (That was the corny joke.)

So that was when I chose my bed near the window but not directly next to it - for fear I might fall out.

The pile of snow seen through the double doorway is on a red picnic table:

We probably received between 40 and 60cm of snow - and wind blew some of that away.

 There is a bench here:

On good days it looks like this:

We were fortunate to have the choice to stay at home. Others were not so fortunate

That was the first item on CBC news at 6PM on Friday. Make every day a day to remember,

Room with a view

I mentioned "hurricane" last night. This morning we have horizontal snow. The photos were taken when I could see about 100m. When I could not see the willow I did not take any photos . so you will just have to hold a sheet of white anything in front of your eyes. Rest assured that that is a good deal warmer than reality.

This view is to the north, toward Leacock, from just outside our "guest" room - so it comes with an outside balcony!

I now turn toward Washago 15Km away, but can only see our Willow. I am happy to see some colour. However, the canoes and kayaks at the base of the tree are nearly buried in snow. It will be the closest I get to white water.

Toward Rama, via the "double tree", I can just make out the edge before the lake snow. The

blue-tinged terrace glass traps some of the blizzard - here some 50cm deep. It covers the snow tunnels used by the squirrels. It is fun to see them poke their heads through the snow as though to see where they are. None out this morning.

These last 2 pictures complete the scan to the right and show the outside and inside views of the balcony. The birch is sitting on our picnic table.

In conclusion: there were no mosquitos bothering Vicki. And it was a dry cold so I was out in shorts, T-shirt,  and sandals.

The Moon near the Pleiades and Jupiter

It was quite cold last night and I suspect that there was some condensation within the lens system.

The first 3 images were with the Nikon 1000:

I also used the Pentax KII:

I am not sure whether the Moon would set before occulting 1 or 2 stars in the Pleiades.

I also have Jupiter and satellites with the Nikon :

 Tonight we have a hurricane!

Some "Canadian" attachments

On Thursday Jan 3, 2019, I had this experience:

I was the photographer. I am inspired by Samatha's presentation tonight to share.

Trumpeter Swan Count Saturfay

 My excitement knew no bounds

But even  the wise old bird makes mistakes/ gets carried away. Those are not Trumpeters!

Yes"

And now the challenge - not its yellow label:

U49.

The challenge is to read the band on its right "male" leg:

No animal was harmed in this investigation!

Not even the Wise Old Bird, thanks,

They call the wind Maria

Away out here they got a name
For rain and wind and fire
The rain is Tess, the fire's Joe
And they call the wind Maria

-from Paint your Wagon

sung by Harve Presnell

as
[ROTTEN LUCK WILLIE]

Looking East along Atherley toward Tudhope Park

I have been trying to capture the wind for several decades.

And at minus 12 degrees Centigrade I am also trying to capture "wind chill".

And what feels like to be  "liked" in Canada -

They call the wind Maria
