Bogged down in Winter

I just realized that I have not written to you, or 2U or UU, for a very long time, The  snow has been deep but the rains have reduced the impact. Also the winds have blown much away. Still, when the winds drop, it has been an interesting time.

The weight of Winter weighs heavily on all signs, not just of life. I have squeezed a little colour from the landscape around midday on Wednesday,

Red granite and some red dogwood for contrast to the glacial blue.

So now you have some idea of Winter?

And, oh yes, it is very cold  -

Monday after the weekend

I felt good Saturday morning. There was sunshine, a light breeze but I was sheltered by the trees, and it was cold - I don't remember whether it was still -30C or whether it was already along the rise to -13C that it would reach when I dared start the car. It started but what would I do if it didn't - I was not going to leave until Sunday afternoon.

It was rather pleasant sitting around talking about food, and a 1000piece jig-saw puzzle with a Canadian aurora borealis as theme

Actually, quite a little party. This scene was on Friday evening and continued until Sunday afternoon.

Back to my walk on the Saturday morning - across a bridge -

Some icicles - the building appeared to be unheated, so the melting was caused by the roof absorbing sunlight.

And there were several chickadees:

Clear, cold, after rain and snow

And the visibility was - variable as in "RU Lupi", a real variable star

The rain in Spain is fine but the Spanish "Orillia" did not like what it got today - the plain was below zero,
and this caused problems. I dare say we were still lucky - parts of Montreal looked more like the Seaway.

The next will make sense to those who made the water droplets in May 2013:

And the NF made a suggestr which I could not carry out because the roads were bad. I hope NF will accept these as a token of the idea:
